Actos and Avandia Plague Diabetics with Severe Side Effects
January 26th, 2012
Actos and Avandia have three things in common: 1) both are drugs used to control diabetes, 2) both were once the number one selling diabetes drug in the United States, and 3) both had the most severe side effects imaginable. Avandia caused heart attacks and strokes, Actos has been found to increase the risk of bladder cancer. They also share one other thing in common – lawsuits. There have been over ten thousand Avandia heart attack lawsuits and there may be even more Actos bladder cancer lawsuits. Many newspapers and magazines published stories about the FDA and its failure to adequately regulate Avandia. Cardiovascular disease is a known component of diabetes, but not cancer. Cancer is perhaps the most dreaded of all diseases, so learning that your diabetes medication led to your bladder cancer can be incredibly traumatic. Plus cancer treatment has its own share of problems, and anyone whose bladder cancer progresses to Stage 2 or beyond has a 50 percent chance of it returning even if it’s initially successfully treated. The drug’s manufacturer deserves all the Actos bladder cancer lawsuits that are likely to be filed against it. Worse yet, reports are now coming out that the earliest tests of Actos showed an increase in bladder cancer, giving even more credence to the Actos bladder cancer lawsuits being filed.
